Comment About James Natchwey's Documentary

James Natchwey is a famous war photographer, the kind of photographer that put's his life in the line just to bring the truth to everyone.

That's the topic of the documentary, it shows us the real danger that James Natchwey is exposed to, every time he does his job.

I liked the documentary because it shows the total truth about what happens in war, it shows us the real nature of the human being.

James Natchwey uses black and white in almost all of his pictures to bring the drama up, to make you feel the sorrow he is capturing.

Stenopeic Camera

I made a home made camera that actually takes really good pictures.

Took pictures by making a tiny hole in one side with a pin, and left it for 4 minutes (exposure) and then took them to the dark room. the result of the camera were the following:

The Camera takes the picture in negative and upsidedown but after developing it became noemal black and white again.

Another Location:

All the pictures were taken with the stenopeic camera (the can above) in my school.

Painting Negatives

I painted negatives, using water-base paint to change the colors of pictures.

Film Frame (Fotograma)

I made this, by using items I found in my room, making a short story by placing the items in a new photographic paper and exposing it into light.

I first checked how much time it would take to get full black in the picture so by using one second intervals I knew I had to use 5 seconds to get the image correct.

"The ninth floor" by Jessica Dimmock

http://www.mediastorm.com/publication/the-ninth-floor

Follow the link to view the video.

The ninth floor by Jessica Dimmock, is a video she made in an apartment in the 5th avenue in New York city, without much experience she started a photography project called the ninth floor, where she embarked on an almost three-year journey into the lives of those living in the apartment who were heroin addicts.

The video is pretty heavy, it shows us the life of the heroin addicts who lived in that apartment of fifth avenue, jessica dimmock shows us in a very raw way their lives, at the beginning you can see that she was not getting to close to the persons living in the apartment, but later on you see she started getting closer and closer.

The reaction of the addicts is not shown in the pictures maybe because they just didn't care of what was around them, it is shown that all they could think about was heroin.

The Second part of the video, shows us the life of a couple ( who left the apartment maybe to start living life away from heroin.

Sadly their way of living kept on going until, Rachel became pregnant, that showed hope in the middle of that chaos, now Dionn and Rachel thanks to their daughter are trying to get back on track.

The quality of the pictures sometimes is not the best, but it is not the quality that mater but the content of the pictures, it is full of cold colors to represent loneliness, but right at the end colors get warmer to show the new hope that comes with the newborn baby.

production of images 1 assignment 1

My first assignment, to make a story of anything using only pictures.

Photography comes from the greek φως phos (light) and γραφίς grafis that means designing or writing, so the first concept of phorography was "drawing with light". That does not mean it was created by the greek, but that the meaning of the word is taken from the greek, maybe just to sound more fancy. Photography was invented by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1827 with a picture of the view from his window.
